County officials are currently compiling a list of men and women from Westchester that died from illnesses whose names will be read at this year’s ceremony, along with 123 county residents that died following the terrorist attacks 16 years ago.
Families of first responders from Westchester who died as part of rescue efforts at the site of the Twin Towers have been asked to contact the county if they would like to be included in the ceremony by contacting Clare Kelly in the County Executive’s Office at (914) 995-2933 or by emailing ckelly@westchestergov.com.
“It is my solemn wish to recognize all our fallen heroes,” Astorino said. “Sixteen years later, we will never forget that for some, the effects are still taking a terrible toll and claiming lives.”
This year’s annual remembrance ceremony will be held beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 at the Rising Memorial at the Kensico Dam in Valhalla.
